Phones won't boot
Phones won't boot
Hi guys...
Today we changed our switch (fortinet) to a new one (aruba sw) however, we have three iptouch 4068 that has problems. they just get to 2/5 network setup and reboot themselves once again.
What i noticed is that we have only one 4068 that is working fine, and i believe it is regarding the firmware. Is there any wan i can upgrade the phone firmware?.
Thanks.

Re: Phones won't boot
What? So you changed your switches and problem is the phone's firmware? Based on which logic?
How can one alone work and not 3?
Do a sniffer and see what is going on. Try another switch or ports.

Hi cavagnaro,
thanks for the info on the sniffer...i'll try that..
however, so far i've tried the following:
i have connected the non working phone into the port that i have the other working fine with no luck. Also, tried connecting the working phone into the port that was not working and the phone boot up with no problem. The only difference i noticed at first sight was the firmware. I've also try with the remaining ports on the sw.
The other thing i've tried is to change the "dyn mode" to "static" and it said bad tftp response, it gets to 5/5 connecting and the reboot and starts the cycle again n again.

Also...why is it that i cannot change the cpu while i'm configuring the static mode?...when i use dyn the cpu is the right one. But if i use static mode it changes. And under dyn i cannot change the ip.

Re: Phones won't boot
Dyn mode is DHCP so it is your DHCP servers the ones that provide that info, while doing Manually you insert all info. For what you say seems is a misconfiguration on the phones. Compare them side by side.

Re: Phones won't boot
interesting thing here is that if the 3 phones were connected to the same OXO in prevoius state why would they not all be on the same firmware?
maybe the different versions relate to specfic features in later firmware i.e. 802.1x or lldp?
what are the actual versions of working and not?
try to turn off lldp on the non working and see if that helps? has the new switch got lldp enabled to a different vlan?
is the network flat or vlan'd?

Re: Phones won't boot
You cannot change CPU in static mode (and not need). In static mode you need to manage - address, mask, gateway and TFTP (in real life - CPU address)!!!
During boot phone will receive from tftp server (CPU) - configuration. After this - you can check IP parameters and will see - CPU IP address field will be filled.

Re: Phones won't boot
Hi guys,
I have the following:
Non workin phones -> SW 1.17.01 - bOOT 1.00.07
Working phones -> SW 4.33.60 NOE (Soft Info) - Batch 1251(hardw info).
While creating the vlan voice (tagged) and data vlan (untagged) we enable a profile called voice that has lldp and 802.1x as features (workin phones has these features if you want to use them)...we also erase that profile and problem persists.

Re: Phones won't boot
are the non-working phones in SIP mode? I see NOE 40x8 binary 1.29.2 in release 6.0 which I think is when they were released.
