Problem with serial connection

Post by micheleschelfi »

Good morning everyone,
I've got a big issue with my Alcatel OmniPCX Office.
I've started working on a system built by someone else, and I don't know the password for OMC management system.
I found a way to reset the password using the config port and serial connection, but it doesn't work.

I used a standard "cisco" serial cable and the Putty terminal (trying all standard serial speeds), but i cannot see anything on the terminal. I've tried also another V24 cable (used for UPS), and with this i saw lots of strange symbols. But nothing clear.

Do you know if this is a cable problem? Or maybe is the config port damaged? What kind of cable should I use?

Do you know if exists a way to hard reset the system, and then manage it via Ethernet?

Thank you and sorry for my bad english.

For Cisco cable you need to cut it and reverse crimp an RJ45.
