check broadcast in network. the phone set has detected a DOS Attack because of too many broadcast traffic. this can be a reason that keepalive packets cannot received in a timely manner.

Hi
is there any DOS defence mechanism that can be enabled in the OXE or IPphones . The switches are already DOS protected.

If the switches would be really DOS protected then you wouldn't have a DOS attack. Check broadcast, which happens to be detected by OXE as an attack due high traffic on its Ethernet port. Ip phones should be on a isolated VLAN with QoS over data packets.

i agree to cav.
redesign of network is the only way to prevent too much broadcast to voip euqipment. also take a look in the alcatel-lucent network design guide.
