FTP cannot login. How to copy out the backup?

Post by fys »

Hi I have an issue with ftp at a customer site. It keeps giving me the incorrect login error. But I'm able to go into telnet using mtcl login, or even enter swinst, or root. I have no idea how can we change ftp password? I suspect should be some file corruption.

So I need to know how to copy out the backup inside usr4.
I have tried connecting a oxe hardisk via usb to a linux machine (redhat or ubuntu). I am able to see the partitions, and the folders inside the partitions. But if i go into usr4 folder, i see nothing inside.

Is there any other way i can get the files out?

First look for /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow. Try to replace this 2 files with valid ones from another OXE. Be careful, as bad operation/owner, access rights, etc can lead to impossibility to login onto the system.
A safer way: install system on the inactive partition, copy database and linux data on it and make a partition swap.

Hi tot3nkopf,

Thanx for your suggestion. I've managed to transfer out the files already. The way I did is by setting up an FTP server on my PC, login into mtcl via telnet, and trigger an ftp connection to my PC, and then transfer out the file to my PC.

Thank you.

in the same way like he did the workarround. software installation is an outgoing ftp connection (from oxe to installer pc).

only incoming connection (from pc to oxe) wasn't work.
