SNMP discovery issue

Post by ramdineshsunil »

Hi All,

This is my second post here ,

I configured SNMP in Alcatel omniswitch 9000 as below

user snmphcl password hclsdc_2014rw read-write all no auth
aaa authentication snmp "local"
snmp security no security
snmp authentication trap enable
snmp community map "hclwda_2014rw" user "snmphcl" on
snmp trap absorption disable
snmp station 10.251.9.33 162 "snmphcl" v2 enable
snmp station 10.251.9.37 162 "snmphcl" v2 enable

But from the SNMP server side device is discovered as Ping device only,
and when SNMP server trying to discover the SNMP i am receiving logs for udp port no 161,1691 in juniper firewall.

This is the result of Show user (SNMP user is snmphcl)

Show user

User name = snmphcl,
Password expiration = None,
Password allow to be modified date = None,
Account lockout = None,
Password bad attempts = 0,
Read Only for domains = None,
Read/Write for domains = All ,
Snmp allowed = YES,
Snmp authentication = NONE,
Snmp encryption = NONE,
Console-Only = Disabled

Rules are implemented in juniper firewall for udp161 1691 udp 162 1692 as well

SNMP logs in Juniper firewall:

I am missing your question..

From snmp-server you query with community "hclwda_2014rw" and it does not work?
Not sure where you Port 1691 comes from, snmp-querys should be 161 while traps are sent from switch to station on udp/162
