"vrrp track address " always down

Post by sulisu »

Hello,

According to manual, I think "vrrp track 1 address 1.1.1.1" means it can verify whether the ip address is reachable or not.

But the track result is always down, altough the ip address is reachable through ping.

BFD is optional so I think it verify the ip address can use other mothed such as ping, the document does not reveal detail on how the vrrp track address works. Is my configure method wrong?

Thanks.

Hi,

I have not associated the track with vrrp instance. But If I make a track of port or vlan-interface, it works without being associated with vrrp instance.

I also doubt why the "vrrp track address" needs ip address only. I think it should be associated with ip address and a port or vlan-interface, if not, how do the switch know that the specific link associated with the address is down?

here is the sample of vrrp configuratioin
->show configuration snapshot vrrp
! VRRP :
VRRP TRACK 1 ENABLE PRIORITY 50 ADDRESS 10.33.200.41
VRRP 48 48 DISABLE
VRRP 48 48 PRIORITY 110 PREEMPT INTERVAL 1
VRRP 48 48 ADDRESS 10.x3.y8.254
VRRP 48 48 ENABLE
VRRP 49 49 DISABLE
VRRP 49 49 PRIORITY 110 PREEMPT INTERVAL 1
VRRP 49 49 ADDRESS 10.x3.y9.254
VRRP 49 49 ENABLE

-> show vrrp track 1
Tracking Policy TRACKID = 1
Policy = 10.x3.200.41
Dec. Priority = 50
Admin. Status = Enabled
Oper. Status = Down
BFD Status = Disabled

-> ping 10.33.200.41
PING 10.x3.200.41: 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 10.x3.200.41: icmp_seq=0. time=1. ms
64 bytes from 10.x3.200.41: icmp_seq=1. time=1. ms
----10.33.200.41 PING Statistics----
2 packets transmitted, 2 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip (ms) min/avg/max = 1/1/1

-> show ip interface
vlan-240 10.x3.200.42 255.255.255.252 UP YES vlan 240

if you have associated the track to the vrrp instances at the master than you config seams to be correct. You should open a ticket at alcatel?
