ERP in a VPLS disables incorrect port

Post by bmccloskey »

First post here. I'm currently working on a network and have run into an issue with ERP function in a VPLS. The setup is as follows. Core router is a 7750 sr-7, connected to it are two 7210 SAS-M layer 3 switches. 7210s are brought back to the 7750 on routed fiber connections. Connected to the 7210s we have two OmniSwitch 6855. I have on the 7750 a VPRN with an interface for the subnet the 6855s reside in. There is a VPLS instance that is bound to the interface using ip-bind and a service name. On that VPLS I have mesh-sdps configured that point out to the attached 7210s and mesh-sdps configured on the 7210s that point back to the 7750. I have connectivity to the switches. I'm able to ping them as well as SSH to them. However, i have to leave one of the SAP ports on the 7210 shutdown or i lose my connection to the switches. If both ports are no shutdown, ERP kicks in and shuts off the port that connects to the 7210. The ERP link between the switches is 1/11 and the port to the 7210 is 1/14. When ERP does its thing it shuts off 1/14 instead of 1/11. I'm at a loss as to how to get this to function or if it will function properly.

Thank you all!

Solved this issue. The VPLS ids on the 7750 and the participating 7210s were not correct. Such as on the 7750 the vpls was 1 on one 7210 it was also 1 on the second 7210 the vpls was 2. As soon as the second 7210 had a vpls 1 correctly configured everything worked as expected. Had nothing to do with ERP or the VLANS.

Hi. Does the 7210 has ERP configured on each of the ports in your setup? Or the ERP is only run by the ALE switches?
