Hi Guys
I have a query and hoping someone can assist.
for a lab environment I have a ESXI machine with 4x virtualised OXE's
ip's as follows:
151.1.1.1/24
151.1.2.1/24
151.1.3.1/24
151.1.4.1 /24
I am trying to configure a 6850-24 to route between them.... with no luck
the config of my switch is as follows:

Test_Lab exit
if i ping the IP address interface NATIVE to the specific vlan then i get a response.
for example:
i use port 2 on the switch which is tagged for VLAN's 20,30,40 and the native vlan for this port is 10..... this is where im connecting the ESXI box
if i know ping 151.1.1.250 (the ESXI PC) or 151.1.1.1 i get a response but don't get one if i ping 151.1.2.1, 151.1.3.1, 151.1.4.1
if i however the plug the Ethernet cable into a port with native vlan 20 for example... then i can ping 151.1.2.1 but non of the others again.
another strange thing is that if i ping the switches own IP's.... i don't get a response unless something is connected to the switch ie: a pc with an appropriate address 151.1.2.50 for example then i get a response when i ping 151.1.2.254..... this is the same for all the ranges respectively.
am i missing something??
Please help
hope this all makes sense
Regards
Andy
Intervlan routing with ESXI pc
Re: Intervlan routing with ESXI pc
The switch IPs should be up once a port with this vlan is up. If you do not have any port connected the vlan (and hence the ip interface) stays down. if you have e.g. a trunk port up (e.g. 1/1 - 1/4) the ips should be up.
show ip interface would show that.
As default gateway for your OXEs you have the correspondig switch IPs? From your description it seems as if you you missed to set a default gateway.
(Test with PC 151.1.2.50 connected to native vlan 20 and default gateway set to 151.1.2.254. As long as there is a esxi connected all the switch IPs must be reachable.
Test that!
Afterwards debug what is wrong with the esxi config
