Hi, just got my first refurbished switch.
It is a OmniSwitch 6850 48 port.
I am confused and surprised that it has a modular power supply and that it is removable if I wanted to stack a pair of switches together.
I do however seem to be lost though.
When pluging in the switch for the first time I am greated to a 0 on the LED readout and the OK is amber/ PRI is off/ PWR and BPS are Green.
I am assuming I have to configure something to even get this switch to be a dummy switch but seeing as I am still learning even the basic CISCO commands Im not sure where to start to get it to work.
Any all help is appreciated.
I did already splice a CISCO cable to work with the switch and can communicate with it through puTTY.
New to Alcatel, not sure where to start...

Re: New to Alcatel, not sure where to start...
Somehow the boot flags of your switch do not allow to start the aos. Please check the forum for correct command (should be in some "how do I recover my passwords" - can check later maybe

Re: New to Alcatel, not sure where to start...
So are you saying instead of starting the Miniboot I need to start an AOS?
Sorry if what I wrote was confusing like I said im new to this and Alcatel is completely different than what im used to.

Re: New to Alcatel, not sure where to start...
So I followed the instructions here:
viewtopic.php?f=191&t=25767&p=94582&hil ... ord#p94582
This has now caused my switch to now display the following:
This is really concerning me seeing as I have no Image files and honestly have no clue what to do from here.
If I messed up (Which I am thinking I did) I do have another switch I can mess with but I would appreciate it if you could be a little more informative on what and where I should look for advice.
Thanks

Re: New to Alcatel, not sure where to start...
You should try to do disaster recovery with USB.
Search for lots of (small - 256MB are fine) USB sticks in your office. Format them as FAT. Put a (empty?) file on it.
Test with your other 6850:
- connect,
plug them in
enter "usb enable"
It should give you some output.
afterwards "ls /uflash" should show you the file.
If you found a working stick (i had ~ 40-60% success rate with sticks)
usb disable, remove stick attach to PC.
create a folder on the stick
/6850/certified
and copy all image files in there (if you do not have it, download the ones from the second/working 6850)
