6850 mtu size

Good evening!
Can you prompt me how can i change l3 mtu size? My client needed in mtu 1600, and i have a few routers with ospf routing.
I tried enter
vlan 5 mtu-ip 1600
but have an aswer
ERROR: MTU parameter not supported.

no chance with this (old) switches. Only the newer R8 switches (f.e. OS6860) support changing of MTU.
