Ominiswitch 6400 stacking Master

Post by chamara »

Hello,

I am new to Omini switches and I have to migrate lot of switches to Alcatel with my new Job. When I tries to configure stack on omini 6400 (AOS 6.3) I found only two stack commands on CLI reference also. which are "Stack set slot" and "stack clear slot". I would like to know how can I set the stack master on switches. Is there any good guide documents for learn more about alcatel switches since I have to change whole infra from next month onward to Alcatel as management decided.

Appreciate any help

thank you
Kind regards
Chamara

You can't make a dedicated switch master.. if you reboot a whole stack the one with the lowest number will be master.
In each stack there will be a primary (master) and a secondary (next master) and idle units.
In case of a reboot/failure on the master the secondary takes over.
From the idle units a new secondary is elected. Once the (former) master comes back it will be an idle unit.

Everything is explained in the sw-guide, found at https://service.esd.alcatel-lucent.com/ ... er_support
