Notifications stopped working for 6450 switch

Post by Mhunter1993 » 26 Oct 2016 11:49

The Omnivista 2500NMS v4.1.2 R03 stopped receiving traps form a 6450 switch, this happened after the traps form the notifications were deleted. no configuration changes on the switch and the traps are still working on the web view.
Any Ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks

there are some troubleshooting commands:
debug trap counts
in dshell there is a counter to every server (request_id)
> dshell
Certified: [Kernel]->showTraps
...
trap_id is <008> ipaddr is <172.20.7.130> request_id is <00135> uptime is <000233899560> ticks
trap_id is <008> ipaddr is <172.20.7.131> request_id is <00135> uptime is <000233899560> ticks
exit
at the server you can check with wireshark if the traps are received (but it will be difficult at the virtual machine installation). But you can change the snmp server address at the switch to your pc for testing.

I tried the dshell showtraps and nothing showed up so maybe it is the switch.

very strange
can you try to delete the following lines
snmp authentication trap enable
snmp community map mode off
snmp trap to webview disable
Use the default settings for it (disable, enable, enable).

Maybe there is a bug with one of the settings.

Also you can disable qos. Sometimes there is a wrong rule that is matching.

For testing you can generate traps with >debug trap generate xx

Sorry for not replying earlier, a coworker reset the switch and it began to work just fine. I really don't know what was wrong with the config but if i learn something I'll let you know
