Mac Address Table entry when Vmware vmnic standby mode

Post by theoa56 » 13 Dec 2016 08:55

Hello all,

I've a Nic Failover on an ESX with Two network physical adapters, one in active mode, the other in standby mode. I want to know where my adapters are connect on my Alactel stack switch. I get this info with SNMP query, when querying the MacAdress Table. It's works for the active nic. But for the nic in standby mode, there is no entry. I want to generate traffic (by a query on the mac address of the adapter) to add an entry in this mac adress table for the standby adapter. Where is the best way to do this ? The goal is to know which interfaces are free on my switch ?

Thank you very much for helping me.

Théo.
