From the oxe12.0_im_SoftwareInstal_8AL91032USAG_1_en.pdf.

Code: Select all

2.3.3 Installation Configuration
For any type of Communication Server (CPU7-2 board, CS-2 board or Appliance Server), the default
configuration of the V24 port is:
• Speed, 9600 bds.
• 8 bits.
• No parity.
• 1 stop bit.
• XON/XOFF
Connect a terminal with VT100 emulation (,Hyper-terminal, PuTTY, minicom, etc.).
Connect the Communication Server to the installation server PC using a crossed Ethernet cable or a
hub or switch. For an Appliance Server, use Ethernet connector 1.
Appliance Servers must have an up to date version of the BIOS. For more information, refer to
Document [25].
CS-2 boards must have BIOS version 8.3 or higher. If this is not the case, return the board to the after-
sales department.
CPU7-2 boards must have BIOS version 3BA24115AAFC or higher. If this is not the case, return the
board to the after-sales department.
To check BIOS version on a CPU7-2:
1. Log in as root
2. Launch a command line and type the uhwconf command
3. The output of this command is for example : BIOS Version : 3BA24115AAEB
4. Check the BIOS version
BIOS version must be greater than or equal to 3BA24115AAFC bscpu7300/004.003.
If the BIOS version is lower than 3BA24115AAFC bscpu7300/004.003: the BIOS update is
required.
Caution:
As the OmniPCX Enterprise PC Installer application runs the TFTP, FTP, and DHCP servers, standard
installation of a Communication Server is performed outside the client LAN and therefore requires a
direct Ethernet connection between the Communication Server and the installation server PC.
To update the BIOS version, follow this procedure:
1. Login to the CPU7-2 using the root account
2. Use ftp/sftp to transfer the bsp_cpu7.hex file to the /tmpd folder of the OmniPCX Enterprise node
for which the BIOS has to be updated
3. Use the cp command to copy the BIOS binary file bsp_cpu7.hex to the location /usr2/downbin/
Example:
[root@cpu7s2_33 tmpd]# cp /tmpd/bsp_cpu7.hex /usr2/downbin/bsp_cpu7.hex
4. Click y (yes) to overwrite the existing file
Example:
cp: overwrite `/usr2/downbin/bsp_cpu7.hex'? y
[root@cpu7s2_33 tmpd]#
5. Reboot the CPU-7 2
During BIOS reboot, the BIOS is automatically flashed if the existing BIOS version is lower than the
version placed in /usr2/downbin/bsp_cpu7.hex
6. When the flash is completed, reboot the CPU7-2 again
The CPU boots with the new BIOS
Caution:
During flashing, do not hard reboot the board and do not remove the power.

you need the bios file from R12. Then you take a running R11 CPU 7-2, copy the bios file in the right place and reboot. Then the Bios gets flashed. After that you can insert a fresh hdd and install r12 normally.

I have done it once for my lab cpu, and make all new R12 Hdds on this cpu. If you put this hdd at the customers site, it will flash the bios and all is fine...

hi,
dont use m140315h as there is a problem with RAM, use m140316a. and plus did you install 512mb RAM. for r12 the RAM has to e 512 not 256.
i have done a few upgrades from 11 to 12 all worked out fine.

no need to copy files here and there, just use the release pack of m140316a and type 109.000 or 109.0 as new booted file, works well.

Regards...

hi, maybe this can help all of you.

Detailed Description Topology
OXE CPU7-2

Environment
R10.1 to R12

Scenario
The BP want to install the version R12 from a R10.1.
He uses the PC installer to install the (M140315h)
After a packet installation, there is a reboot and the system start to the old version

Version Build R12.0
Resolution
Resolution Analysis :
. Check if the CPU7_2 has 512Mb of memory and 40Go of disk -> OK
. Check the version of bios thanks the uhwconf command -> lower than the minimum 3BA24115AAFC

Solution :
To resolve the problem, you must have the good version of Bios
Bios versions greater than or equal to “3BA24115AAFC (bscpu7300/004.003)” are concerned
Latest patches in J2, K1.5 & L1 will also inherit that bios.
So the Bp has to install the lastest version patches of J2, K1.5 & L1 (to flash the new bios) and after installed the M1.403.15.h

Moreover, to install the last Bios for M140315h on another CPU, the faster is to put the HD with the M140315h in this CPU.
When the CPU starts the bios is flahed with the right version.
