IntIp3 Installation failed, data lost after reboot

Post by nubi »

Hi Board Members,

after all the trouble with the Alcatel Logistics we got an IntIp3 Board this week so that we wanted to upgrade to appliance Server with Realease 9 and IntIp3 Boards.
The Problem is that the Board was BLANK without any Installation !
We try to install with the OmniPCX Enterprise Installer and it seems to work, we configured the board and then make a reboot, BUT after
this all Data is lost and we have to begin at begin!
We tried several Options with the Jumpers - No Success !
All Components are connected over a hub and can ping each other after IntIp3 is configured.

I found this post from FRANK :
http://mail.alcatelunleashed.com/piperm ... 00460.html
but there is no solution :-(

Does anyone know what went wrong with our IntIP3 Board ?

Thanks in advance
Nubi

Edit :
The only thing for me which might be interesting is this :
Downloading /DHS3bin/downbin/intip3/binintip3 from 172.22.170.31
/etc/rc.d/init.d/binipmg_download: download_binary binintip3 failed
/etc/rc.d/init.d/binipmg_download: download of binintip3 failed: file not found on server or bad transfer or file corrupted
/etc/rc.d/init.d/binipmg_download: sleeping 5s then retrying...
but why ?

hi

The INTIP B board IP configuration is not managed from the mao but from the board or received from a DHCP server.
You have to specify the Ethernet address of the board in the Ethernet parameters otherwise the board cannot start.
(IP/INT/IP Parameters/Ethernet Address Checked By TFTP= true by default)

Hello Konstantinos,

we ve configured the board with mgconfig ( Parameters IP address,Netmask,Gateway address,CS role address,Crystal number), but the
board lost everything after Reboot.
Even if i don t reboot and execute the script /etc/rc.d/init.d/binipmg_download by hand i get the
same errors (file not found on server or bad transfer or file corrupted).
But the file "binintip3" is on the CS SErver, and is readable !

Did you mean an other configuration(file) ?

Thanks

Hi nubi, a couple of things I see in the trace...
MAC address 00809F74005B
1. IP address 172.22.170.14
2. Netmask 255.255.255.0
3. Gateway address 172.22.170.1
4. CS role address 172.170.22.10
5. CS redundancy role address 0.0.0.0
6. Crystal number 3 (Manual allocation)
7. IP QoS menu VLAN disabled
CS address looks like a typo.
after you configure the ip information it looks like the the card reboots and detects the tftp server (pcinstaller) still running so loads from that. best to stop the installer when entering the ip information.
also as Konstantinos says enter the mac address should be entered aganst the shelf in shelf/board/ip paramaters. I think this is needed for the new cards even if you have ethernet address checked set to false.
Best Regards
Murray

Hello Murray,

The log was a trace from our first tries, it was a typo and fixed, result is the same !
If the PCinstaller is off the IntIP3 Board tries in a loop to boot from network, it don t
try to boot from flash.

I mounted the flash card from the Board with a Linux System and there is a directory
structure, but NO Files ! ( The Flash Card is NOT Write Protected !)

Our Alcatel System Engineer had a telephon call with the alcatel Hotline today, and he said
something about a faulty series of IntIP3 Board, he will call back when he knows
more about that ....

Thanks
