Users from Node on Release 5.1 are not able to call users on node in release 10.1.

Post by mustafa.ahmad »

Hi,

We have the attached scenario. The numbers in the circle are nodes. and the numbering in blue is the release version. The links between the nodes are marked with red color the nodes from 1 to 11 are connected via T2 links. and the nodes 8, 12, 13 and 14 are connected via IP Hybrid link.

The problem is that form nodes 12, 13 and 14 , the calls can be made to any node in the network. But the nodes 1 , 2 , 9 , 10 and 11 users are not able to call users in 12, 13 and 14.

All the links are up and we are able to connect to each and every node.

The users from Node 1 to Node 11 are all able to call each other. there is no issue over there

Read Technical Communication 1645, 7.4 ABC-F2 compatibility. It contains vary valuable information on ABC-F2 networking E10.1 nodes with the nodes with other Releases. .

Check with "suproutage". F.e. from node 9 (select nodes 8,9,12,13,14).
May be VPN overflow (8-12, 8-13, 8-14 etc) not declared on nodes 1-11.

@Alex

I have gone through this document ,and parameters have been managed accordingly. But the thing is that the users from Node 8 ( Release 10.1 ) and users from Node 1, 2 , 9, 10 and 11 ( Release 5.1 ) hve no problem in communication , it is all perfect.

When calls from Node 1, 2, 9 , 10 and 11 ( release 5.1 ) are made to Node 12, 13 and 14 ( Release 10.1 ) , it fails. BUT when users from Node 12, 13 and 14 call to any node , the calls are placed, there is no issue over here.

@vad

Do we need to declare/create VPN overflow in nodes 1 , 2 , 9 , 10 and 11 also ? because the VPN overflow ( 8-12, 8-13, 8-14 ) is already managed in Node 8

Just create (f.e. node 9) VPN overflow 8-12 (just in Internode links/VPN overflow - without VPN overflow prefixes etc.) and check (calls from node 9 to 12 and suproutage from node 9).
In normal network - when you create VPN overflow - this VPN overflow will be created on all nodes (via broadcast).

Thnx vad , the issue has been resolved, with your suggestion.

I also had to do some extra configuration. I added the users of node 12, 13 and 14 in node 8 as network numbers and made the prefixes for users of node 12, 13 and 14 as routing numbers in nodes 1, 2 , 9 , 10 and 11 to be routed to node 8 .

After that it has been working fine.

But there is still the strange thing , that there are no vpn prefixes created in nodes 7, 6, 5, 4 and 3 , and the calls are still going form them to users in nodes 12, 13 and 14.

Problem can be solved in two way:
1 - All users present as network numbers with node number declared. In this case you need create VPN overflow (not prefixes, just VPN overflow 8-12, 8-13, 8-14 like in node 8 management)
2 - You can declare users from node 12-14 as routing prefixes from node 8. In this case calls will work. Nodes will send call to node 8, node 8 - have programmed VPN overflow.

More right way - 1.

yes the first VAD's suggestion with VPNof is best one, like that you have a real network

t3 traces , , internode links abcf2-T2 OR ip ? external trunks are them connected to node 2 or node1? , have you managed dpnss prefix
may be some of B channel Are reserved ..
