Why should I cross cable between Clear port and GD?

Hello,
As the subject, is there any reason why should I use cross cable between SSM/MSM Clear Port and GD/GA/INTIP/CS ?
Could anyone explain why??
Because, I (didn't know I must use cross cable) install IP Touch Security solution with straight cable on site,
and now find the document that I should use cross cable.

Maybe because the box does not support mdix feature, which is not so unusual (like nonnecting from one pc to another pc)?
Why should this be documented? It is general networking knowledge...

I was not asking about general networking knowledge... I install with straight cable and there's no signalling or any other problem yet.
But I realize something lately, when IP Touch phone make outgoing call, encryption not working. Only internal calls being encrypted.
So I was wondering if cross cable is related with that or not.

End to end encryption works only if you encrypt inter node links and provider IP trunks...
Nothing to do with cross/straight cables.
