Database Restore failed: NMC Restore Failed

Hi all,

I am trying to restore the Database of my 4760 v.4.0.11.01 to the same version on a test server.
I am using the same computer name, DNS suffix is the same, I am using the same passwords when I reinstall the 4760. I have rebuilt the server and reinstalled 4760 multiple times. Still having the same issue

Before I try the Database restore everything works correctly, after the restore fails 12 of the 15 NMC services stop and they are no longer in the service manager.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My suggestin
you backup was down by the same running application
do you have still log of nmc save restore when performing this backup 2010 march 26 14H25
you may find in the log that backup has failed

you have same log in the 4760/data/scheduler : try to find the log by search a file generated around this date
file are splited per schedule job id

in the past i have asked for a restore option with a 4760 service stopped
i suggest you stop all sybase / sun one service / nmc servcie
and use to resotre another backup: 4760/bin/restore.exe
if all fails
supply the traces of nmc service manager.log
and check sun one service is running

I've checked the log for the back up and the back up was completed successuly sun one was running I will try to provide service manager.log

However I do not have 4760/bin/restore.exe- There is a save_restore.exe file but doesn't do what I need.

Any further help?

Actually the version 4.0.11.01 is not final.
Some bugs were corrected. Latest SW is 4.0.12.01.d. You'd better try latest version or even 4.1.

saverestore.exe is the binary file of service NMC save restore: you cannot launch it
R4.2.10.02d patch3 includes the latest patch for a successful defragmentation

one potential issue in restoring 4760 on other server is mistake on password
in svcmgr log you may find unable to connect to ldap server, while in fact it is running

all 3 password : dba, cn=directory manager and andminnmc are embedded inisde the database
since restore does only unzip of .ace file, whatever your initial password setup, after restore operation your 4760 use the paswwoard of the backup
except for NMC servcie manager
fnd parameter entry of svc_mgr in the registry (using regedit tool)
export the data from initial server : check no value depend on the old server (like path)
import in new server

I was able to pull the Log on the actual back up and I think that might be where the issue is
Here is the log. I hope this info might shed more lite on the problem?

NMC service is paused : disk limits not checked
this is a normal error during backup the disk control for overuse of disk capacity is in pause

Warning: maximum disk limit reached for NmcSaveRestore
this the main info of failure:
no moer backup will be performed since not enough disk on the drive that support 4760_arc folder

check now nmcsvc mgr.log it has similar issue i think for the drive that support 4760\bin or 4760\data

i suggest you remove/move unncecessary file including backup
