email rx problems

I have just setup a ECS and created various email accounts. I have sent and received mail locally, no problem. I then adjusted my mail settings to allow me to send and receive emails externaly. I amended my ISP settings for mail @domain name to my public ECS ip address. After a 24 hours (whilst the external DNS were updated), i could send email externally but cant rx them from and external source. I have carried out a trace with my mail.domain name and it routes back to the ECS public ip address. I have sent emails from other sites and they state the email has been sent and routed successfully but no emails arrive on the virtual email user or the sych outlook. Any help ?
