How do I connect to the config port of an OXO system without having a V24 port on my new laptop? A usb to serial convertor does not seem to work though I use it for OXE systems!! Please help...I have been struggling ever since I got this laptop and would get into a soup if I do not manage to connect to the system through LAN.

Re: Laptop without V24 port and OXO connectivity
How do I make the COM port used by usb to serial connector to appear in the list when I go for a Local V24 connection?
Thanks again!

Same procedure as for v24 COM. USB device has to be connected while doing so.
Re: Laptop without V24 port and OXO connectivity
I can't seem to get my V24 connection to PowerCPU systems to work. Most people I know use an old Cisco console cable with the RJ45 reversed, which is fine for OXO pre-PowerCPU. I had a look at the R8.1 tech manual and the pins are slightly different, so I open circuited pin 2 (old DSR) and pin 4 (was a GND) but still no dice. What have other people done to make cables for the new CPUs?

Thanks very much. That solved the problem.
To the OP, my USB to Serial adapter uses a Prolific chipset and it works fine.
