Switch Whiped out

Post by enima89 »

Hello all

I started upgrading 3x 6250 switches. I uploaded the new files (miniboot, uboot , ...) as mentiond in the upgrade instructions and used the update commands and it worked fine for 2 of the switches. The 3rd switch when rebooting started showing some numbers then rebooted and got stuck with the message

Code: Select all

Uncompressed kfminiboot.bs @ 0xA10000...
"Running miniboot ...".

I rebooted the switch and pressed "u" to get to the uboot but same problem ( stuck with the message :

Code: Select all

Uncompressed kfminiboot.bs @ 0xA10000...

Reading kfu-boot.bin ...done
"Running UBOOT...".

Rbooted the switch and used "x" for xmodem, I uploaded the miniboot file "kfminiboot.bs" and the switch starts on mini boot. From there I followed the instructions int the "How to recover the AOS of an OmniSwitch 6250 via serial connection" manual but I can't transfer files through Zmodem when i enter the command "[Miniboot]->sysStartZmodem" I get the message :

Code: Select all

Upload directory: /flash/working
rz ready to receive file, please start upload (or send 5 CTRL-X's to abort).

**B0800000000022d
and the transfer never starts.

Now I'm stuck with switch that does'nt have anything in it ( only boot.params file )

please help.

So, I managed to upload the files but I still can't get the switch to boot and it still gets stuck in the "Running miniboot..." message ???

I don't get it.

Hello ,

I can't use USB because I have miniboot version 6.6.1 and I don't think it supports USB recovery and I think it is corrupted because it won't enter to the miniboot unless I use xModem to upload it.

Thanks

Than you have to use Zmodem - here a document:

Please follow the procedure in this document in case you issued the command
„newfs“ and rebooted the OmniSwitch 6250 without installing a new AOS onto it. You
might use the same procedure in the unlikely event of a fatal image corruption.
As a pre-requirement we are expecting you to have an appropriate AOS image for
the OmniSwitch 6250 as well as a console application which is able to transfer files
through zModem (e.g. SecureCRT).
[Miniboot]→

You can access the same „Miniboot“ if you press „s“ during boot-up of the switch.

AOS BootSelector Version: 6.6.1.386.R01
Creation Date: Jun 30 2009 11:13:37.
Press x to choose XMODEM…
Press s to STOP AT MINIBOOT…
S Key was pressed
<Some output removed …>
WARNING: Stopping in miniboot as directed by boot flags…
[Miniboot]→

Please do not use the XMODEM mode (x) to recover the switch, this mode should
only be used if instructed by Alcatel-Lucent Technical Support to do so. This mode is
not intended to recover the AOS and therefore won't help you.
After the switch is in Miniboot mode, please change the directory to „working“.
Please note that all commands in Miniboot mode are case-sensitive.

[Miniboot]→cd „working“
value = 0 = 0x0
Now change the BAUD rate of your serial connection to 115200 (otherwise the
transfer is going to take a very long period of time).
[Miniboot]→asciiBootParamsParseInteractive
Type '?' for help, 'exit' to exit the boot param parser.
Boot >
Boot > ?
boot hostipaddr <ip address>
boot serialbaudrate <1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 76800, 115200>
boot serialparity <none, even, odd>
boot serialwordsize <7, 8>
boot serialstopbits <1, 2>
boot serialmode <modemControlOn, modemControlOff>
'show' - Display the edit buffer
'commit file' - Commit the changes to ASCII file and EEPROM
'commit system' - Commit the changes to running system ONLY
'exit' - Exit (quit)
Boot > boot serialbaudrate 115200
Boot > commit system
Make sure that you only „commit system“ and not „commit file“, otherwise the BAUD
rate will be saved in the boot.params file.
After you entered „commit system“ you have to change the BAUD rate of your serial
connection and set it to 115200. Afterwards connect again to the console.
Boot > exit
value = 0 = 0x0
[Miniboot]→

Since we already changed the directory to the „working“ directory we can start to
transfer the files through Zmodem.

[Miniboot]→sysStartZmodem
Upload directory: /flash/working
rz ready to receive file, please start upload (or send 5 CTRL-X's to abort).
Starting zmodem transfer. Press Ctrl+C to cancel.

ZMODEM file transfer successful,
Hit <RETURN> to exit…
After the transfer has finished you can instruct the switch to reboot from the
„working“ directory for the next boot.

<Some output removed …>
Make sure to change your console connection back to 9600 BAUD and reconnect to
the console once the OmniSwitch finished booting the AOS. After logging in please
issue a „copy working certified“ to copy the uploaded image files to the certified
directory and finish the recovery procedure.
Congratulations! Your OmniSwitch 6250 is now recovered.
