NTP settings 6850,6400 and 9700 time snyc with -2 hours diff

Post by PaulvDronegeln »

HI

I have a problem with configuring the NTP setings on the 6850,6400 and 9700 swithces.
I have configured the following on teh swith.

F2-B-1-> show configuration snapshot ntp
! NTP :
ntp server 172.17.1.12 key 0 version 2 minpoll 4 prefer
ntp broadcast enable
ntp broadcast-delay 10
ntp client enable

The folling info i get fram the show command.

F2-B-1-> show ntp server status
IP address = 172.17.1.12,
Host mode = client,
Peer mode = server,
Prefer = yes,
Version = 2,
Key = 0,
Stratum = 3,
Minpoll = 4 (16 seconds),
Maxpoll = 10 (1024 seconds),
Delay = 0.016 seconds,
Offset = 0.766 seconds,
Dispersion = 0.468 seconds
Root distance = 0.190,
Precision = -6,
Reference IP = 172.17.1.1,
Status = configured : reachable : synchronization peer,
Uptime count = 13173186 seconds,
Reachability = 1f,
Unreachable count = 0,
Stats reset count = 13173099 seconds,
Packets sent = 5,
Packets received = 5,
Duplicate packets = 0,
Bogus origin = 0,
Bad authentication = 0,
Bad dispersion = 0,
Last Event = peer changed to reachable,

F2-B-1-> show ntp client
Current time: Thu, Aug 20 2009 10:00:14.500 (UTC),
Last NTP update: Thu, Aug 20 2009 10:00:07.750 (UTC),
Server reference: 172.17.1.12,
Client mode: enabled,
Broadcast client mode: enabled,
Broadcast delay (microseconds): 10,
Server qualification: synchronized

But the system time
F2-B-1-> system time
12:00:34 (CEST)

Could some one help me with this issue.

The NTP server is a windows 2003 server

kind regards

UTC is GMT - meaning it is the base for the time. You should set your timezone matching your region.

NTP is always UTC and the switch will add the two hours to "represent" the correct time.

I think this is ok. (Just set the correct time zone if necessary)

The time reported for NTP will always be UTC. The correct timezone will set the time in "show system" to the correct one.

It would be easier for us if you would post the outputs and in addition what you expect to see.
