need to apply custom Event Notification Policies

hi all! I am very new to SAM Manager. i am wanting to apply custom event notification policies on our network routers via sam. I found how to make new policies ( admin> meditation> Notification policies) but i am unable to change routers off of the default NEP ( its grayed out, i have admin rights to sam) any help would be great! thanks
