My 7210 is not new

Post by ECC1 »

My 7210 already has files and directories on it. When using the file , dir commands I can see that there is a previous config file and a bof.cfg and bof.cfg.1 file. I deleted the bof.cfg file along with the second one, deleted the config file and deleted both.tim file (which I think I should not have).

Now the box will not load TIMOS. My intentions were to bring the box back to factory and then install software upgrade and the new config for the job.

How do I get the box back to normal and to load TIMOS again?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Connect to the console - terminal settings are 115200 8N1.
Also connect the out-of-band ethernet management port so that an FTP or TFTP server that has both.tim is reachable. This could be running a TFTP server on your laptop.

Reboot or power cycle the device and interrupt the boot sequence.
Set eth-mgmt-address and eth-mgmt-route so that the switch can get to the FTP/TFTP server.
Set primary-image as the path to both.tim on the FTP/TFTP server. For example
primary-image tftp://10.135.25.100/both.tim

Copy the file back to the local filesystem once the switch has booted from the FTP/TFTP server.

Try the command
bof eth-mgmt-address <ip-prefix/ip-prefix-length>
to set the IP address and "show bof" to display the existing configuration.
