7210 SAS-T VLAN and dot1q Configuration

Post by bdy »

Hi

I have a customer who has purchased some Nokia 7210 SAS-T switches to replace their existing Access LAN switches

I am new to Nokia - and I can't see a straight forward way of configuring the simple VLAN and Trunking that exits on the old switches (Aruba)

I can see that the 7210-t is mainly a service based switch - but is there a way to configure it as a normal LAN Access Switch?

All we need is a dot1q trunk connecting the Nokia to an HPE Core switch Tagging a few VLANs
Possibly some LACP Aggregation on the uplinks
with untagged Access ports connected to local devices in these VLANs

Not sure this is the right switch for this job - but this was not our decision

Thanks

Hi,

Yes it's a service based switch, but it should definitely be able to do what you need.

For multiport VLANs etc., you can configure a VPLS, or for a simple port to port VLAN, you can use an epipe.. But on Nokia there are several things you need to do first:
  • Configure the port as an access port and also set the encapsulation type - configure port x/x/x - you may need to shut down the port first and then re-enable
configure the service - configure service vpls xxx customer 1 create
then add the port and vlans to the service: sap x/x/x:x create
then no shutdown on all elements
If you'd like some prof services etc let me know.
Cheers
