Post by hamadaltaf »

I want to configure snmp on SR 7750.
To start with I will be using snmp to monitor port 1 usage.
Require help to kick start configuration.

configure system
snmp
no shut
packet-size 9216 (or whatever you want)
exit
security
snmp
community "xxxxxx" r version both
community "xxxxx" rwa
community "xxxxxx" rwa
exit
That should get you started, remember your trap groups are built under the conf system log root. If you want to enable persistance you will need to do that through the bof with "bof persist on"

is there a quick how-tow for snmp.v3 too ?? (TimOS v. 7.X is running)

I'm a little bit confused 'bout building the passphrase-hashes for the users

Dear All,

Please inform me, can I get snmp information using IP bof? I mean the snmp packet transfer to agent over Management Port in SFM, Or I have to add additional configuration in under system configuration context. I've read OS System Configuration guide, but there is no explanation how the snmp packet sent to agent.Using inband (IGP link) or outband (Management Port).

Thanks guys

I use snmpkey to generate hash.

Was trying to discover 7750 nodes using Solarwinds and SNMPV3.
This post has helped, where it was suggested to use snmp hash generator.

Have used online generator for a keyword and on solarwinds rather than providing password, entered key and able to discover node.

Thank you for your help
