replace equipment - configuration

Post by UP82 »

Hi everyone,
I would like to replace old 7750 SR1 with 7750 SR-a8 equipment.
I would like to replicate the configuration of the SR1 into the SR-a8. can i save the configuration of the SR1 in a text file and copy it entirely into SR-a8?
obviously I have to consider a possible new arrangement of the cards...
Which is the best practice to replicate the configuration?
Thanks a lot

There are a lot you need to concider if you are going from SR-1 (SROS 10/11?) to SR-a8 (SROS 14,15 or 16).
A lot of changes has been made in routing context between those versions.

The best way is to do this, is via notepad/notepad ++.
For services, you should be able to copy/paste most of the configuration, with modifications on sap etc.
Also for router interfaces, copy paste can be used, but I would do this controlled with console in a none-production-environment if you are not familiar with the exact changes in contect between the different SROS versions.
Any error in context, will result in a failed config file, and the device will not parse any more configuration.
