iom3-xp-c throuput

Post by mouthpiec »

hi,
what is the throughput for the iom3-xp-c card?
according to the data sheet, it can handle "50Gbps Full slot/IOM throughput (full duplex)".

does this mean 25gbps per daughter board (m4-10gb-xp-xfp) ?

thanks in advance

That's correct, each MDA can support a maximum of 25Gb/s of throughput due to the speed of the XPL bus between the MDA and the IOM.

another question .... since 7750SR supports 40Gbps optics, which cards should be used to support those speeds?

There is a 6x40GE IMM and a 3x40GE IMM.
There is also a 3-port 40GE + 20-port GE SFP combo IMM.

If you have the release notes for the software you are running, there is a hardware compatibility section which lists everything.

thanks ... i was going through the release notes.
I was interested in "3HE04743AA imm12-10gb-sf+ imm12-10gb-xp-sf+ 7750 SR 12-port 10GE IMM SFP+ L3HQ", and create linkaggs of 4 ports (4x10GB).

What card would I need to support these speeds? and would I need to replace also the control cards? (sfm3-12)

That card is an FP2-based one and has 100Gb/s of fabric links so it's oversubscribed.
You can use it with a SF/CPM-3.

If you want to use IMMs that have the FP3 network processor, they are not officially supported with the SF/CPM-3 when running SR OS R12 or above.
There is a 12x10GE FP3 based IMM if you upgrade to SF/CPM-4 or above. This card is not oversubscribed and has a faster CPU for better convergence.

thanks for the info ... really appreciated.
Never used IMM cards in an SR, I need to do some research :) if we go for the below (still need to confirm with the design team) do we need to replace also the control cards to SF/CPM-4 (3HE05948AA) ?

FYI we will be using release R10

3HE04743AA
imm12-10gb-sf+
imm12-10gb-xp-sf+
7750 SR 12-port 10GE IMM SFP+ L3HQ

You can use that card with SF/CPM-3 and running R10.

You can think of an IMM as like an IOM where the MDAs are fixed so they can't be removed. IMMs still have virtual MDAs.

thanks ... I really appreciate your feedback!

so you think that with imm12-10gb-sf+ (x2 for redundancy) + SF/CPM-3 (x2 for redundancy) it will be possible to achieve 40gbps x 3 using linkagg?
