Post by chuikingman »

Hi,
I try to make 6900 boot from mini-boot but fail as I want to reset the user "admin" password to "swtich" again.
I want to access miniboot and remove the usertable file .
I find even I set bootflag to 0x1000 . The switch have not boot to mini0boot and continue to boot in normal ...Why ?? please advise ..

To use the switch rescue procedure first make sure of the following:

  - The Trescue.img file is located in the root directory of the
    USB flash device
  - The 6900 directory contains all the system files required to
    revive the switch.
    i.e. 6900/certified/<*.img boot.cfg>
         on the USB flash device
  - USB flash device is inserted into the CMM

Once the above requirements are met, issue the following command
at the prompt to start the rescue process:

=> run rescue

***** Using the rescue process WILL destroy all switch data *****

Re: reset the 6900 switch to default password

Post by silvio »

The way to reset the password is in your output visible :lol:

=> setAdminPasswordDefault
=> boot

There is an other hardware with linux (not vxworks like R6). Miniboot was at the R6 switches.
