Hello all,
I need any help about this issue. I will explain the topology:
We have two switchs 6900 Model setting as Virtual-Chassis.
OS6900 ----VFL-----OS6900
(Master) (Slave)
We have some servers with two NICs. Each NIC is connected to one port of each switch. For example:
Server1 nic 1 -----to----- OS-Master port 1
Server1 nic 2 -----to----- OS-Slave port 1
(and so on)
Servern nic 1 -----to----- OS-Master port n
Servern nic 1 -----to----- OS-Slave port n
The main issue is that some ports is down instead of the fiber is connected properly between the switch and the server.
The system is versión is: "Description: Alcatel-Lucent OS6900-X40 7.3.3.384.R01 GA, December 08, 2013.,"
We have checked the log and we haven't found any information about this problem. Also, we have checked the SFP transceivers and everything is ok.
Anybody have an idea about what is it the solution?
Thanks in advanced,
Best Regards,

Re: Problem port up/down with Virtual-Chassis 2x6900
How did you setup the Servers?
Do you use LACP to connect to the VC? What Software is running on the Serverside?
I have seen setups using VMWare running LACP on a distributed switch as well as kind of redundant port, where the second port is used only as failover.
Is the second port working when you connect only that port?
As general: upgrade to latest release (7.3.3.589) just to rule out quirks that occur often in GA releases.

Re: Problem port up/down with Virtual-Chassis 2x6900
Hi,
The servers are RedHat Enterprise and we have configured bonding connections in mode Active/Passive, so at the side of the switches we haven't configured LACP... one port is active and the other port is used only for failover.
We have requested a new reléase in order to upgrade. We will try this way.
Thanks for the response,

Did the new release solve the problem? To which release did you upgrade? (and where did you come from)
