Write memory is not permitted

Post by yasirsattar06 »

Dear All,

I am new in Alcatel-Lucent data, i have worked on Cisco devices.

Whenever i want to change my configurations on 6860E switch by using "write memory" command, it gives the error like "ERROR: Write memory is not permitted when switch is running in certified mode" and when i give this command "modify running-directory working" then it gives error like "Please wait...ERROR: /flash/certified/vcboot.cfg and /flash/working/vcboot.cfg differ".

Please tell me what is the issue?
And please tell me the process or commands for 6860E Shutdown, Reboot, save configurations?

Kind Regards
silvio

first time the switch starts from certified. You can use the follwing command to create working and make it as running:
copy certified working make-running-directory

After that your switch will be in working (show running-directory). Now you can do write memory.
