stacking of 6860

Post by jagzeer »

Hi, guys

Just curious if we can form virtual chassis with same model of 6860 but different ports.

Let say OS6860E-48 and OS6860E-P24 stack together. The other switch not POE capable and diff ports.

Based on the guide "A virtual chassis cannot contain a mix of different families of switches (i.e OS6900 and OS6860)." Although I havent tried mixing 6860 switches to form a stack.

For 6900 it was mentioned that it is supported as long all switch in 6900 family.
"all models Omniswitch 6900 (x20, x40, T20, T40, Q32 and X72) can form a VC up to six units with any combinaiton of models.

Just not sure though of the 6860 support the same thing and if there will also be no issue.

Yes you can.

You can mix in a VC different devicetyps of the same Series. (same as in Stacks of 6450, .. ..)
So no problem with mixing PoE and non PoE.

I am not 100% sure with "E" Modells if you utilize features of the "E" Modell - Application Monitoring/DPI? than some restrictions may apply.

I had stacks of 6860-U28 and 6860-48 as well as PoE and Non PoE versions.
