OS 8.5 Update on 6860E

Post by alf97 »

Hello everbody,
all my Switches (VC and stand alone) are running on OS 8.2.1.335.R01 and I guess it´s time for an update now.
Can I use the current OS 8.5.1.164 R01 or is there any known issue that I Need to know or is it better to wait for R02 (whenever it will be released)?

Thanks
Alf

Hi,
you can update direct to the newest release. It works at me since some weeks without issues. ISSU will not work within VC for this huge step. So you need downtime for the standard update (explanation in release notes).
Don't forget bootrom and fpga. It is necessary for some new hardware.
Here I have written something in german: http://dokuwiki.alu4u.com/doku.php?id=sfp-10g-t

Hi Silvio,
hardware is from 2016, I guess no bootrom and fpga update is necessary, am I correct? I´ve just installed the OS 8.5 on a test System (single) without any problem and on a VC and no problem has occured. I installed OS 8.5 on both test via NMS 2500 V 4.3

Thanks

Ah, I forgot to mention that I don´t use 10 G copper SFP-Modules, I always use SFP-10G-SR/LRM modules

according the release notes you didn't need fpga and bootrom update. But nobody knews about future. I prefere to do the update if there is a downtime. But it is your choices :)
