Mulitcast Switching 6860E and

Post by matzio49 »

Hello, help, please.
OmniSwitch 6450 on TV and OmniSwitch 6860E as CORE will be on the network.

OmniSwitch 6450 (source) -------- OmniSwitch 6860E (CORE) -------- OmniSwitch 6450 (client)

All devices have an IP address in VLAN1 (10/12/12/02)

All devices are running VLAN 6 for MC transport

All devices have active.

ip multicast status enable
ip multicast querying enable
ip multicast querier-forwarding enable

I need to transport MC L2 to all Switch over VLAN 6.

Thank you for answering Silvio.

I've added addressing to VLAN6.
I added it on the satellite device
ip multicast status enable
ip multicast querier-forwarding enable
ip multicast max-group 50
ip multicast static-neighbor vlan 6 port 1/49
ip multicast static-querier vlan 6 port 1/49

theoretically everything works, but the pelewisses turn off after 5 minutes. Apparently it can be caused by too many packages on the port, which can cause the TV to turn off.

if you have an querier you didn't need a static neighbor. Use the commands "show ip multicast group|sources|forward" to check your mc-receiver, mc-streamer and mc-streams. There you find also an life timer. Did this entry going up to zero? If yes than your querier isn't working correctly. Did all your switches see the correct querier (the core)? Check it with show ip multicast querier. You will see the vlan 6 ip of the core. At the core you should see CPU.

Total 2 Queriers

Host Address VLAN Port Static Count Life
---------------+-----+-----+-------+------+-----
10.0.6.253 6 1/49 no 95 185
0.0.0.0 6 1/49 yes 0 0

no ip multicast static-querier vlan 6 port 1/49

-> show ip multicast querier

Total 1 Queriers

Host Address VLAN Port Static Count Life
---------------+-----+-----+-------+------+-----
10.0.6.253 6 1/49 no 96 206

should I also throw away my static neighbor, from all devices

-> show ip multicast neighbor

Total 1 Neighbors

Host Address VLAN Port Static Count Life

0.0.0.0 6 1/49 yes 0 0

Yes, delete all the static entries at all switches. And than do the given show-commands to check.
