Access Linux backend of AirManager

Is it possible access the linux back end of AirManager? I used the OVA to install and while it asks you to install VMware tools prior to installing airmanager it does not seem to be possible to actually do that. I would like to access the linux back end so I can install these tools and expand the hard drive space.
