Use Alcatel VoIP and Digital phones with a third party router

Post by AndreiMihai »

Hello,
i am the administrator of the telephony system in my company. Since 7 months I started taking charge of the PBX.
I have a question regarding the Alcatel Lucent Deskphones 8028 and 8029. I tried to connect the 8028 with a CAT6 to my router(fritzbox), but it didn't work.
I tried to connect the 8029 with an RJ11 cable, but it didn't work out. The phone still remained off.

Is there any possibilty to use the Deskphones for private measures with a third party router?

Anything ending with a 8 is an IP phone which requires PoE
Anything ending with a 9 is a digital phone, which needs to be physically connected to the correct type of board to power up.
