Virtual-Chassis of OS6900-X40 & OS6900-X48

We have a virtual-chassis setup comprising two OS6900-X40 switches, and the customer is considering adding two more OS6900-X48 switches. We need confirmation that the new OmniSwitches will be compatible with the existing ones.

The old and new version of the 6900 have different software images, which should make them incompatible, perhaps Silvio knows more.

While I cannot confirm their compatibility, either way it is not a good idea to even try. The X40 is end of life and will stop receiving Software Updates. Consider replacing them. If you are in a consulting role, it should be your recommendation.

correct. The old hardware (X20/40, T20/40, X72/Q32) can be connected in one VC up to 6. And all new switches too (X24/48, T24/48, V72, C32). But the old switches and the new one can not connected together in one VC.
