No ethernet on hard drive
No ethernet on hard drive
Hi,
I cannot access an OXE via ethernet, only the V24 works. I changed the CPU7-2, shelf, connection box and cables and still things don't work. Now i suspect the HDD but unfortunately i don't have a recent backup. Any idea on what the problem is or how can i obtain the backup any other way with FTP not working?
Regards
GTM

Re: No ethernet on hard drive
if i'm not wrong you can use hyperteminal or other zmodem to do this , search also for kermit or (gkermit) in the formun may be it can help
also try uhwconf command to see if ether is presente

Re: No ethernet on hard drive
The main problem with Ethernet connection was (if Ethernet not works from the beginning) - when you connect Ethernet cable to the backplane you connect to wrong position (the first pin must be 17). If you connect look to "Ethernet" label - first pin may be wrong (18)
Re: No ethernet on hard drive
On the same unit, i used a different CPU7-2 and HDD it works. If only i had the most recent backup, i would be preparing the new working HDD. The PINS on the backplane are ruled out here. What i want to do here is retrieve the backup and OPS keys from this HDD but ethernet is on strike. Serial connections work fine but i cannot run FTP.

Re: No ethernet on hard drive
If you have another CPU/HDD - where Ethernet works. Just install HDD to working CPU and save backup.

XD so showing you the command with options and saying already what to do, is not helping you? Then what? You expect him to go and type the commands for you? Move your hand too???

rofl...
sry i must ask this question.
if gkermit is too much complicated to you and ethernet is not possible... but you are able too take a screwdriver to install the harddisc to another cpu7-2... WHY don't just connect the harddisc with an usb adapter to another computer. even for windows os there are drivers for reading data from ext2 partitions...

Re: No ethernet on hard drive
If you have problem with HDD and you want to retrieve backup (not sure, depends of HDD errors) - for me more right way:
- use laptop with Linux
- connect HDD with USB adapter
- mount HDD and try to save partition with database (/usr3/mao, usr4/BACKUP)
