Remote monitoring of OXE

Post by ogeen »

Hello,

I would like to ask for some help. I have quite a lot experience with monitoring of various network devices and servers using snmp and systems like Nagios, Icinga or check_mk.

Now I am at new company and my task is to monitor Alcatel PBXs OXE and OXO.

My question is what is the best way to remotely tell if the OXE or OXO is working or not?

Simple pinging ot trying to open tcp port of web interface is not enough.
I was already checking OXO MIBs, but so far I could not find anything helpful.

What are some common problems to be aware of at these devices?

Thanks for your tips.

We use PRTG Monitor. As of right now, we only use simple ping on the OXE components. I tested sending Syslog info to PRTG also, that works fine. I have not implemented the OXE MIBs into PRTG, but it can be done for sure. I does require a deep look into the MIBs tho :) You can also send SNMP traps to PRTG.
