4645 VM VPIM
The VPIM protocol is used by the 4645 voice mail service to exchange messages with other VPIM-compatible voice mail services (4635 and other non-Alcatel-Lucent VPIM-compatible voice mail services).
Message exchange is transparent to the user, who can send message to mailboxes other than those present on his/her voice mail system. Messages are exchanged by e-mail.
An 4645 domain is a network of 4645's included in the Call Server network, which therefore shares its homogeneous numbering plan. This means that users do not need to use prefix codes to send messages to remote 4645 voice mailboxes.
If the 4645 voice mail network is not included in the Call Server network, it is not possible to have a single numbering plan. In this case prefix codes must be created so as to be able to reach each destination voice mail node. These prefixes, integrated in the numbering plan, can be used manually by users.
This object is used to set the parameters of these prefix codes by integrating all the Call Server TCP/IP parameters and numbering plan parameters.

VM Node Number
Unique number that identifies a voice mail node.

Prefix Number
Prefix used by users to identify the mailbox node in the numbering plan.
This prefix is not necessary if the node is located in the same domain.

VM Phone Number
Number used for telephone calls from this node.

Directory Name
Directory name used for dial by name.
This directory name is not necessary if the node is located in the same domain.
This attribute is optional. If it is not filled in this does not affect operation, but dial by name will not be able to be used.

Domain name
The FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) is used to create a correct e-mail address.
This attribute is mandatory and must be filled in correctly. The IP address of the node can be given as a number or as a name, if the name is known in the hosts table.

Destination type
Node type:

Min nb digits
Max nb digits
Minimum/maximum number of digits in the number of a voice mailbox on this node. Used during dialing to send messages to a mailbox in the node.

Audio encoding
Type of compression algorithm to be set according to the bandwidth between the local node and the remote node. Compression is used to reduce bandwidth consumption, but requires transcoding which takes up considerable CPU time:

Email encoding
Type of encoding to be set according to the IP network. The type of coding depends on the capacity of the remote node to decode. 4645 supports both types of encoding:
