Hi,
I own a PBX with rel. 6.0, CPU6 with HDD, but i would like to utilize SSD. I swap the hdd, and cloned it to the ssd, but it doesn't start, just say:
HDA: status timeout... (hex value)
HDA: no DRQ after issuing write
IDE0 reset: success
Does anybody know, what i have to patch, or do to work with ssd?
ssd instead of hdd
Re: ssd instead of hdd
Hi
I think it is not possible. I don't think rel. 6.0 and CPU6 could support SSD.
Best regards.

Re: ssd instead of hdd
Why an expensive SSD for a 133hz CPU? Better use it on your laptop

Re: ssd instead of hdd
Upgrading my PBX network is very expensive, because i am using a lot of PBXs.
I had noticed that HDDs are the weakest part of these PBXs, because they are spinning 24/7.
But we bought several IDE SSD in the past and we cannot use them because they are 32GBs, and they have IDE interface not SATA.
But if you can send me some files to migrate my PBXs, i would be very glad.
I did some google, and i suppose there is a hdd driver changes/modifications in the kernel, so i have to change the kernel... but i am not a guru...

That's exactly to the point.zetor2000 wrote:

AFAIK you need at least 2.6.3x kernel to support SSD - in R10.1.1 it's 2.4.17-11-dhs3 - you could seee from that name that it is specific build for dhs3.
On older kernels you SSD won't stay long due to intensive SSD write operations (swap, DB etc) - and we all know that flash memory has limitations on write cycles.

Re: ssd instead of hdd
Yes, it may be the weakest part, but it was developed this way. In my opinion, you shouldn't look for something that would cause more headache, changing HDD to SSD. If you are worried about your HDD, replace it each three years. Remember: ALU developed a huge system called OXE with HDD, they knew what to do. This is my opinion. And as haroun wrote, check the upgrades. I understand it is very expansive, but it is the best option. Don't look for headaches.I had noticed that HDDs are the weakest part of these PBXs, because they are spinning 24/7.
Best regards.
