OXO upgrade setup with rainbow + softphones + hotdesking

Post by jeroenv »

We have our OXO already +/- 5years and want to upgrade from the Omni OXO to the OXO Connect with a new power CPU so we could upgrade to latest software version.

setup:
- Alcatel Omni oxo with digital, analog and mixed card on board.
- +/- 80 alcatel deskphones 4028 IP Touch Extended
- some SIP licenses for doorphones
- 15 MyICMobile licenses

With this upgrade to R4 we want to keep the same deskphones (4028 IP Touch) but in combination with rainbow and hotdesking and/or alcatel softphones. We will not use the myicmobile licenses anymore because we will have Rainbow.
We have local vmware servers to run the webRTC gateway.

Due to corona we have switching tele-workers and mixed use of desks in the company and we have groups/teams in the company where customers call to a number linked to a group of people, they can join or logoff a group with a button on their phone : [Feature Key] > [Group withdrawal]

For what i have found from information, it's not possible if you have remote workers using "rainbow" to join/logoff a group with withdrawal, this is not compatible with Rainbow (correct ???).

Alaternative is :
- somebody in the office will choose the option for you
OR
- use a alacatel softphone instead of rainbow to call so you have the options with the keys just like you are in the office

They also want to use hot desking so the desks where people are working from home could be used by somebody else. We could buy this license but it's not clear if we could use this in combination with rainbow (linked user) and/or with our deskphones (4028 IP Touch). I know we could swap mac addresses but this is not user friendly and each time support work.

is there somebody here with experience with microsoft rds (terminal) server and rainbow or softphones? The notifications are behind the rds sessions if your are working from home. Some tests looks good but should be great to hear from somebody with experience in this.
