Radius--changing MAC delimiter

Post by floridomd »

I have a mixed environment, and am adding some Omniswitch platforms to the network. Like all other switches in the network, these are being configured for 802.1x and MAC Authentication. However, when the Omniswitch presents the station MAC address, there is no delimiter, and cannot authenticate to the existing RADIUS server (FreeRadius 3.x).

As I see it, my options are:
--I can use unlang to alter the presentation, but not without affecting other authentication mechanisms. This is not practical.

--I can create duplicate accounts for all MAC-Auth stations without the delimiter. This is not practical either.

The best option is to change the delimiter between the HEX values in a MAC address to a ":" or a "|". However, I have not found a way to do this. Is this possible?

in AOS R8 switches (like 6560/6860) this is possible. But for R6 (like 6450) there is only the possiblity to change uppercase and lowercase. But not the colon as delimiter.
