In theory, I suppose this will not work, but I wanted to ask the experts first.
1. I would like to setup one of our users who has an Advanced Reflexes terminal with special keys so that she can check the voice mail boxes of 4 other users. The key should ideally flash when there are messages, and pressing the button should then prompt for that users VMU password.
2. I have double-checked in our system, and we do NOT have the software license for "Voice Mail Remote Customisation" (of which I am beginning to believe is necessary).
If this IS indeed possible, can you please walk me through step-by-step on the configuration of the keys, as I am having a beast of a time trying to figure this one out.
Accessing the VMU of other users by function keys?

The Voicemail Supervision key should work as long as you have a recent version.

Re: Accessing the VMU of other users by function keys?
Hi there RWhiting, thanks for the speedy response.
I am not 100% sure of which version you are referring to? The HW, the SW or the PM5? So I will detail for you the following:
PM5 - VER R310 13.1
HW - 2.007
SW - ALZFR110/030.01
I know it is ALL old, but surely there must be a way to program this? As it DOES work via the manual process:
1. Dial VMU hunt group #
2. Wait for three rings and the prompt to enter mailbox number
3. Enter maibox number
4. Wait for the prompt for the password entry
5. Enter the password for the VMU
As for the "Voicemail Supervision key"? I cannot find this in PM5, unless you are referring to following:
KeyType: Resource Key
Keyfunction: Supervision
If this IS what you are referring to, I can enter a destination, (I'm assuming this would be the internal extension of the user who's voice mail I wish to access??) then it is not working for me.
Any other suggestions?

Re: Accessing the VMU of other users by function keys?
Im not understanding your posts what so ever.
I read the 1st one as in you are trying to access the persons vm so you can check the messages.
The next post i read it as you are trying to change there vm greeting and name.
Either way ill make this short and easy (i think i understand what u want)
You can program a Feature Key\ Voice Mail Unit - enter the dialing number as the xtn with the voice mail - this key will flash when it has a message and will work the exact same as a persons normal mail key.
To change someones message's, ive found the easiest way is just to dial 500 then press 9 for more optns.... (there is some problems with 9 when using it on some R's)
Hope it helps

Re: Accessing the VMU of other users by function keys?
Hi again Jigger!
I have tried doing this, and unfortuantely, no matter what I enter in the "dialing" text entry box for the "Feature Key" "Voice Mail Unit", this is NOT flashing when messages arrive for this box.
When I DO push the button, it prompts for a password, but it is for MY Voice Mail only.
It is as though the "Dialing" entry is totally being ignored!

You have Release 1.1. There are no "VM key". This function started from release 3.

Re: Accessing the VMU of other users by function keys?
OK.. that's fair enough. I have entered a "dialing key" for the 500, so then all I must do is wait for the speaking to finish, then enter the mailbox number, then password.
I don't suppose there are any commands that I can include here (within the dialing key) to perform this for me? (It's a manual, rough workaround I know, but I would be happy for it).
I have tried simply putting in a dialing code as 500#250 but sadly this doesn't work. Anyone with any ideas?

Re: Accessing the VMU of other users by function keys?
Remote Customisation was not available in Release 1.1 either, for this to work you will need to upgrade the system, and buy the remote customisation license

Such a simple thing. Thanks for letting me know.
