Switch POE turns off by default after a power cycle
Switch POE turns off by default after a power cycle
Hi, I have a 6360 whereby I enable the POE, save configuration and do a power cycle to the switch, and the POE starts as not turned on and I have to login manually to the switch. Any advise why it's behaving like this?

Hi,
I had this problem as well. Your switch may not have been synchronized before you power cycled it.
Before every power cycle make sure you run the "write memory flash-synchro" command to sync the working and certified directories.
First run the command "show running-directory" and look at where it says "running configuration".
CONFIGURATION STATUS
Running CMM : MASTER-PRIMARY,
CMM Mode : VIRTUAL-CHASSIS MONO CMM,
Current CMM Slot : CHASSIS-1 A,
Running configuration : WORKING,
Certify/Restore Status : CERTIFY NEEDED
SYNCHRONIZATION STATUS
Running Configuration : NOT SYNCHRONIZED
If it says certified instead of working execute the following commands
"copy certified working"
"modify running-directory working"
once those execute successfully re-enable PoE and run "write memory flash-synchro" you should be able to power cycle successfully and retain PoE
Good Luck

i presume you have "lanpower slot 1/1 service start" in your config too? - if you have stacked switches you will need to do this for each member in the vc
