How can vlan access the internet ?

Post by nickyfulls »

I am configuring an Alcatel Omniswitch 6360 switch and desire to ask you some question.
First of all, we did non succeed in creating EMP interface and we did nnot reach the switch. How does it work and how can we reach the switch?

We have two vlans: vlan 1, the default one and vlan 2. On vlan 1 we created an ip interface with address 192.168.1.200. On vlan 2 we created an ip interface with address 192.168.2.1. Clients attched on vlan 1 have the address 192.168.1.2 as gateway, the address of the router. Clients attached to vlan 2 have 192.168.2.1, the ip interface, as gateway. Clients on vlan 1 can access the internet, clients attached to vlan 2 cannot. Where are we wrong?

We desire to keep separate the traffic of vlan 1 from the traffic of vlan 2 and, at the same time, we want that clients on both vlans could access internet. In this scenario, is it correct having created an ip interface on vlan 1?

How can we use EMP interface to manage the switch?

Having an IP interface is not enugh, you need routing, for example by attaching the router to both VLANs.
