Upgrade path

Post by stich86 »

Hello guys,

still back on this nightmare :)

I’ve about 10 6560, most of them are at 8.6.299R01, just two are at
8.9.107.R02

All of them are not under support… is it possible to copy the image from one updated and move it to the other one? I’ve seen that for these switch U-Boot and FPGA needs to be updated, are 8.6 compatible with 8.9?

Thanks in advance

I believe the release notes for each version list the minimum requirements, from there you'll know if you need to upgrade them or not.

As for the image copy, I suppose you can FTP from one switch to another and copy the file, but I always do it with a USB flash drive if I'm locally connected or via WinSCP if remotely connected.

I've seen that 8.9.107R02 needs at minium Uboot\FPGA

FPGA version : 0.4
U-Boot Version : 8.5.265.R02

That's all my switch have (except the upgraded one to 8.9, that are running FPGA version: 0.8 - U-Boot Version: 8.9.85.R02)

So if I copy Nos.img from an update one, to another should it work?

@silvio any suggestion?

Thanks!

Yes, this is possible. You can copy the img-files between the switches f.e. with scp.
For fpga and uboot this is also possible - if you find the correct files in the /flash (normaly you can delete this files after the upgrade command).
You need the files like fpga_kit_8405 and OS6560_u-boot.8.9.R02.85.tar.gz (or other numbers).

What’s the correct order to upgrade?

Copy the Nos.img in which folder? How to mantain older image?

Thanks

Hello,
The latest release notes have all the procedures ready for you in appendix E and G/H (and I recommend you take a read of D as well)
Hope this helps!
