External diversion problem.

Post by reli »

Hi, I am after a bit of advice if anyone can help.

I have a customer who are trying to setup an external diversion to a mobile. We have the number set as a collective speed dial, have tried setting a handset diversion to the speed dial, and tried setting a VT with permanent diversion and then diverting the handset to the VT - both produce the same results.

Have checked barring, joining etc. and have reached the following point.

Caller dialing the DDI will hear a couple of rings, then the ring changes, then an automated message says something along the lines of 'This is the Verizon Business London 8 Switch, you are not registered for this service, please call customer services on 0800 018 8000'. If I setup a diversion to 123 however, I hear the speaking clock. Divert to 17070 and the message correctly informs me of the installation number. Dialing 1470 or 141 prefix on the number makes no difference, I still receive the Verizon message.

I cannot understand where this message is coming from, I assumed the number was being manipulated by the system but dialing a prefix would surely overcome that? If you dial the speed dial directly from a handset, it works fine so must be something to do with diversion.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received, I have sent an email to customer requesting that they raise it as a problem with their provider but recent experiences have suggested they aren't the most capable of telcos.

I suppose, that you have problem with identificator (number of subscriber) sent to external provider. May be you sent the number of calling subscriber, not a diverted party (set, who make a diversion). This is not acceptable by your external provider. Try to change this:
System Misc./ Feature Design/ part1/ CLI for external diversion/ part2/ mark "CLI is diverted party if external caller"

THanks for your reply.

I don't think this is the problem because diverting to 17070 gives the correct number for the site. Also, the company that are giving the message (Worldcom or whatever name they are currently using) are saying that they are not linked to the customers phone provider. It sounds all calls are being redirected to another number.

What release are you running? If over 5.0 try to put a trace on your call and see what you are sending to the TELCO.

It's only release 3 so I presumably can't do this - I'm not familiar with the trace function as I trained on 3. Where is it so I can have a look on another system.

Thanks,

Starting from OMC 600/15.1b you can use PHD tool in section Tools of OMC in online mode for making ISDN traces. Don't use PHD relay tool. More info in TC0113.

I have this exact problem in the UK and it is normally due to CPS. i can override it using IDA such as BT access code 1280. This can also be applied in the divert. Other things to check is whether the CPS is only provisioned for forwarding when the diverted party CLI is given. Also worth checking the external diversion type - re-routing or joining (i think we use joining for 99% of our customers)

This sounds correct, I don't quite understand why its different for a divert as opposed to just making the call but if you have experienced similar issues I assume it is the same.

I have sent your suggestion onto the customer but I don't know that they can use IDA as they don't pay BT for the line anymore, it's all done through their 3rd party company.

Will see how he gets on,

THanks for your help
