Conversation Recording on an extension with no Voice Mail

Post by tjm0852 »

Is this possible? I need to give users the ability to record a conversaton and have the VM message deposited in someone else mailbox. Or give the user in question VM but never have calls go there unless the conversation record button is pressed. I have got it to work except for when all the extensions on that set are busy. External callers get a busy signal, but internal callers get propmpted to dial 8 to leave a VM, I do not want that to happen. If I removed voice mail deposit from the COS, no one else in my organization can use that voice mail deposit feature.

Any ideas?

Thanks

That post seemed to have died, without complete answers. Now I have it narrowed down to voicemail so I figured I would post in the appropriate forum. But you are right :o

No it is not possible.
Recording a conversation is like having a conference call with a party and the voicemail.
No voicemail, no recording.

Thanks Frank! Hope all is well with you.

I also tried to add an announcement only MBX, but that does not work either. I guess it is becasue that MBX type does not allow messages to be deposited in it or in this case conversations to be recorded to it.

I guess I will just add as many multi-line appearances as the set will allow. Then make a greeting stating NOT to leave messages here, and give alternative numbers to call. Nothing is ever simple around here. :(

Create the mailbox and don't forward the extension to voicemail. Then callers can't leave messages.

I tried that already, the problem I am having is when all multi-line appearences are busy internal callers are prompted to press 8 to leave a VM message. When I turn off the VM deposit option in the callers COS no one else is able to access that option fro any other extension. When I turn that feature off in the COS I created to have calls not forward to VM the only extension effected is the one I am trying to conversation record with. Any other suggestions?

Frank, I believe you set something up here for us to conversation record at the switchboard consoles. Can something similar to that be done for this extension in question?

Thanks

Do you want calls to just keep ringing on this phone or do you want them to overflow somewhere else?

If you want them to keep ringing, turn off the overflow under the Public Network Class of Service, then callers won't get this press 8 option. I would setup a new PNC specifically for this user so it won't effect all users.

The ringing for forever part I got down. The problem is when all multi-line appearances are in use internal callers gets the prompt to leave a VM message by pressing 8. External callers get a busy signal. I would like to generate a busy signal for internal callers as well.

All the overflow paramteres are tunred off in the PCOS I built specifically for this set.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Yes, my apologies, don't know what I was thinking. At the moment this answer eludes me but I know there is a fix.
