LOLA can't find boot/config.rc
Hello,
I'm experience some problems using LOLA
Its is installed on a windows XP SP2 laptop, all directorys are shared.
When I startup LOLA, choose the folder I want to upload, then I see in the TFTP screen the 4 files being uploaded, but after this, the LOLA screens stops with the warning that it could not find /boot/config.rc
Anywan knows this problem?
Tnx
Oscar

Have you closed your antivirus and firewall program, if not try that.

Other than the usual things like make sure that you are running LoLa from an admin session and that the folder where the oxo sw is has full sharing one thing I have found is that a swap of the LoLa version sometimes helps.
I have on numerous occasions had 300.11.1 fail but 300.10.1 work and visa versa so which ever version you are trying it with swap to another.
Must admit I have yet to need to use LoLa 400, that Joy
is for this Monday.

When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around.
But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.

Hi.
I have seen this warning myself, but it was easy to solve. The sofware you try to upload may be hidden in a labyrinth of folders on your harddisk - the path is too long for LoLa.
Just copy the folder named "downloadingitems" to root - copy it to C:\
Another trick that might be useful: - Disable the wireless ethernet adapter on your PC. Only the ethernet interface used for LoLa should be activated.

Right. I've seen that behaviour, too.Friday wrote:Hi.

Re: LOLA can't find boot/config.rc
Thanks for all your reply, but still the same problems here.
What I noticed is that when I run LOLA in Windows 98 comaptible mode, Lola starts with copying a folder names ' DownloadingItems ' to the lola folder.
But then it stops with a warning that it is unaible to copy or start services.
When I was at our distributor last week, I saw lola doing the same copying. But they were using Windows 2000 as OS.
When I use LOLA in normal mode ( running under Windows XP as OS ) I don't see LOLA copying the folder.
Anybody knows how to solve this, because it's getting not any better..
Thanks again for all your help.

Re: LOLA can't find boot/config.rc
Under XP and 2k3 LoLa sets up a samba share on the pc which points at the directory that has the OxO sw in it
Things to check
1. Your PC has a statically assigned address (I run mine as 192.168.92.245)
2. The directory that has OxO sw in it has FULL share rights to all parties (this not the /downloading items but the directory above (my path is C:\Data\Alcatel\OxO\Soft\Release 7.0\R700_012_005) so the path length doesn't really matter).
I did a 7.0 LoLa (using the new R400 of LoLa) last night and managed to forget the 'sharing'
and guess what, the LoLa failed cause it couldn't find a .rc file (in this instance a /lang/lang.rc) which immediately rectified itself once I did the share.
Lola can be a pain in the ass but normally it is something that has been missed in the config.

Re: LOLA can't find boot/config.rc
Krusty,
I reinstalled the LOLA tool, shared ALL folders but still the same.
Is there anyway I can check the SAMBA connection?
It's to bad that LOLA isn't making any error reports, where I can check what's going wrong.
Can you send me a screenshot with the share options you set so I can check if I made a mistake on this one?
Thanks for your help, I'm really greatful
